College Moves in Lynchburg and Central Virginia

Central Virginia is full of colleges, and every spring and late summer a lot of students, parents and staff are moving at once. Here's how to make a college move easier, from the crew that runs a lot of them.

Campuses we serve

• Lynchburg: Liberty University, University of Lynchburg, Randolph College and Central Virginia Community College
• Amherst County: Sweet Briar College
• Farmville: Longwood University and Hampden-Sydney College — see our Farmville page
• Charlottesville: the University of Virginia — see our Charlottesville page

Book early for May and August

End-of-semester move-outs and late-summer move-ins are the busiest weeks of the year for student moves, and leases for off-campus apartments often turn over on the same few days. If you know your dates, book a few weeks ahead.

Summer storage instead of hauling it home

If you're coming back in the fall, it often makes more sense to put a room's worth of furniture into a storage unit near campus than to drive it home and back. We load and unload storage units all the time, including climate-controlled buildings with elevators.

Off-campus apartments

Apartment buildings near campus often have narrow stairwells, shared elevators and limited parking. Tell us which building, which floor, and whether there's an elevator when you request a quote.

Share a truck with roommates

Moving several roommates from the same building, or picking up from two dorms on the way to one apartment, is a normal multi-stop move for us and usually cheaper than booking separately.

Flat-pack furniture

New desks, beds and bookcases for a first apartment usually arrive in boxes. We can assemble them on move day so the room is ready to use that night.

Moving home at the end of school

Moving back to Northern Virginia, Richmond or North Carolina after graduation? That's a long-distance move, and it's a trip we make regularly.
