Moving Prices in Lynchburg: How Our Quotes Work

You'll know how your move is priced before you book. No hidden fees, no fuel surcharges sprung on you at the end, and no surprise charges added on move day.

How local moves are priced

Local moves around Lynchburg and the surrounding counties are usually priced by crew size and time. A small apartment might need two movers for a few hours; a large family home with a basement and a garage needs a bigger crew and most of a day. When we quote, we'll tell you the crew size, how the time is counted, and what's included.

How long-distance moves are priced

For longer moves — Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke, or Greensboro, Durham and Raleigh — the distance, the amount you're moving and the access at both ends all go into one quote for the whole job. The same crew loads, drives and unloads, so there are no transfer or warehouse charges.

What changes the price

How much you're movingThe number of rooms and the amount of furniture set the crew size and the time the job takes.
Stairs and accessStairs, elevators, long hallways and the walk from the door to the truck all add time. Old Lynchburg homes and hillside lots matter here.
DistanceFor long-distance moves, drive time between the two addresses is a major part of the price.
Heavy and specialty itemsPianos, gun safes, hot tubs and heavy antiques need extra crew and equipment.
PackingIf we pack for you, packing time and materials are added. Partial packing — just the kitchen, say — costs less than a full house.
Date and timeMonth-end dates and summer weekends are the busiest. Mid-month weekdays are usually easiest to book.

What every quote spells out

  • Crew size and how the job is priced
  • Furniture wrapping and padding
  • Disassembly and reassembly of beds, tables and desks
  • Any heavy items, packing or extra stops
  • Placement of furniture in the rooms you choose

Insurance and protection for your belongings

Carrygo carries $1,000,000 in general liability insurance. If you need a certificate of insurance — for a condo board, apartment building or office manager — ask and we'll send one.

General liability insurance covers accidents like injuries or damage to someone else's property. It does not insure the belongings we're moving. Every move includes our standard protection, which covers damage caused by our crew at $0.60 per pound per item, and our moving agreement spells out exactly what we are and aren't responsible for before you book. For full-value protection, check whether your homeowner's or renter's insurance covers your belongings during a move, or buy a separate moving insurance policy.

Getting the most accurate quote

Send photos or a short video walking through each room, and point out anything heavy, fragile or awkward. Tell us about stairs, elevators and where the truck can park at both ends. The more we can see ahead of time, the closer your quote will be to the final number.

Ways to keep the cost down

  • Have boxes packed and sealed before the crew arrives.
  • Clear out what you don't want first — we can haul it away the same day.
  • Pick a mid-month weekday if your dates are flexible.
  • Already have a truck? Labor-only help costs less than a full-service move.
